Monorail Bar Crawl and the 12 best drinks to try

Are you looking for something fun to do at Disney World without paying for a theme park ticket? Resort hopping is one of my favorite things to do, and a super fun way to explore the resorts is with a bar crawl! The Monorail Bar Crawl at Disney World takes you to all of the resorts on the Magic Kingdom monorail line: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. From pool bars to restaurant lounges, there is a bar on the crawl for everyone!

What to drink?

The Monorail Bar Crawl is next on our list of non-park day adventures at Disney World, but we (we being my husband, Alex, and I) took a look at all the bar menus and each picked a drink. Think his and her drinks. I love fruity drinks where you can’t taste the alcohol. Alex likes traditionally “manly” drinks; think gin, bourbon, whiskey, etc. So if neither of these is your style, take our recommendations with a grain of salt.

Stop #1: Bay Lake Tower

Your first stop on the Monorail Bar Crawl is at Bay Lake Tower, which is part of the Contemporary Resort. Head over to the pool and check out the Cove Bar.

Justine’s Pick: Froze
Featuring Meiomi Rosé and Tito’s Handmade Vodka

Alex’s Pick: Bourbon Breeze
Jim Beam Black Extra-aged Bourbon with Cranberry, Lime and Pomegranate Juices topped with Fever
Tree Ginger Beer

Stop #2: Contemporary Resort

Next, take a walk over to the main tower of the Contemporary Resort and head to the Outer Rim Lounge. You can even enjoy some gorgeous views of Bay Lake and Magic Kingdom while sipping your next drink.

Justine’s Pick: Rum Swizzle
Mount Gay Eclipse Rum with Tropical Juices and flavors of Guava and Mango

Alex’s Pick: Smoked Turkey
Wild Turkey 101 Bourbon, Red Stag Black Cherry Bourbon, Grenadine, and Minute Maid® Premium
Lemonade with a hint of Hickory Smoke, garnished with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries

Stops #3 & #4: Grand Floridian

We’re off to another pool bar at stop #3 of our Monorail bar Crawl: Beaches Pool Bar at the Grand Floridian. This is arguably the fanciest of the Disney World resorts, so enjoy walking the grounds and exploring the hotel!

Justine’s Pick: The St. Augustine
St. Augustine Florida Cane Vodka, and Bols Blue Curaçao, with flavors of Orange, Coconut, and Pineapple

Alex’s Pick: Cucumber & Mint Vojito
Ketel One Botanical Cucumber and Mint Vodka, Lime Juice and Pure Cane Sugar topped with Soda Water

For stop #4 on our Monorail Bar Crawl at Disney World we’ll head inside the main building at the Grand Floridian and over to the Beauty & the Beast themed lounge, Enchanted Rose Lounge.

Justine’s Pick: A glass of Riesling (I’m here for the ambiance, the specialty drinks don’t sound like my thing).

Alex’s Pick: Rye Not?
Whistle Pig 10yr Rye Whiskey, Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge, Cinnamon, Pineapple, and Lemon

Stops #5 & #6: Polynesian

Next we head to the Polynesian. I love this resort; the theme is so fun and the views of Magic Kingdom are amazing. First, we’d heading outside to the Barefoot Pool Bar.

Justine’s Pick: Frosty Pineapple
DOLE Whip® Pineapple with Captain Morgan Private Stock Rum

Alex’s Pick: Lava Flow
Bacardi Superior Rum blended with Cream of Coconut, Pineapple Juice and Strawberry Purée

For stop #6 we’re heading inside the main building at the Polynesian Resort, to the Tambu Lounge!

Justine’s Pick: Lapu Lapu (I’m in it for the coconut!)
Plantation Original Dark Rum and Tropical Fruit Juices served in a fresh Pineapple topped with Gosling’s
151 Rum

Alex’s Pick: Backscratcher
Bacardí Superior Rum, Plantation Original Dark Rum, and Guava-Passion Fruit Juice topped with Jack
Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey and a Bamboo Backscratcher

Bonus Stop! Wilderness Lodge

If you’re up for a bonus drink, you can either start or end your Monorail Bar Crawl at the Wilderness Lodge. While not technically on the monorail (hence the bonus) it is just a short boat ride away from Magic Kingdom. Head inside to the Territory Lounge!

Justine’s Pick: Blue “Glow-Tini”
Skyy Infusions Citrus Vodka, Bols Peach Schnapps, Bols Blue Curaçao, and Pineapple Juice with a
Sugared Rim and a souvenir Glow Cube

Alex’s Pick: Walk the Plank
Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye Whisky, Orange Juice, Orgeat (Almond), and Lemon Juice garnished
with Luxardo Gourmet Maraschino Cherries

What will you be drinking?

Do our drink choices sound good? Which are you looking forward to the most? I’m really excited about all of them but especially the Rum Swizzle, mostly for the name!
