Tron Coaster coming to Magic Kingdom at Disney World

Disney is gearing up for Magic Kingdom’s 50th anniversary in 2021. The new Tron Coaster in Magic Kingdom is one of a handful of new rides coming just in time for the celebration. The coaster is modeled after the fan-favorite attraction Tron Lightcycle Power Run in Shanghai Disneyland.

Construction is underway and cast members were able to sign their names to the first steel support columns for the ride!

The new attraction will occupy an entirely new area next to the land’s Space Mountain. The construction will affect other attractions nearby. The Walt Disney World Railroad will take a break from grand-circle tours in 2019 (and probably in 2020 as well). Guests will be able to take photos with the train parked at Main Street Station, but it will not be operational. The Tomorrowland Speedway will also be closed for part of 2019 (though should reopen late 2019).

Guests will climb aboard a train of two-wheeled Lightcycles and race through the digital frontier.

Is this new ride on your “must do” list? Or are coasters not your fave? I’ll probably do it once… with my eyes closed through most of it. Coasters just aren’t for me.
